Kibbutz Program

A memorial ceremony for Carlos Andres Chavez took place on the 21st of January 2010 in Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha.

Carlos Andres Chavez arrived from Ecuador to volunteer in Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha two years ago and was shot by a Palestinian sniper while working in the kibbutz field.

The participants in this emotional ceremony were Mr. Roberto Kinions – consul of Ecuador, the embassy’s military attaché and Mrs. Aya Sagi, manager of the volunteer department in the kibbutz movement and a member in Kibbutz Tzora, volunteers from the kibbutzim nearby: Nir Oz, Mefalsim (Kfar Aza), Reim, Holit, Ein Hashlosha and friends from Ein Hashlosha.

In addition to the music and Mr. Kinions' speech, a very touching letter from Carlos’ mother was read.

After the ceremony Mr. Abraham Kadesh, member in kibbutz Ein Hashlosha lectured the volunteers about the kibbutz from the establishment, through the times of the kasams and until the relative peaceful days now.
