School for Parents with Challenged Children

Our Parents School was established in 1995. It is open to all parents
who have challenged children and is countrywide. Parents participate
from Kibbutzim, Moshavim, towns, developing towns and community
settlements.

The curriculum contains a large variety of subjects pertaining directly to
the daily problems of parents who are bringing up a challenged child,
from early years, through puberty, to old age. The parents are given an
unique opportunity to meet other parents with similar problems, to
discuss their difficulties, challenges and solutions to problems and to
learn from experts in various fields.

The lectures and workshops relate to all types of disabilities : physical,
mental, rights and laws, different types of protected housing frames,
rehabilitation, employment, sex education for the challenged, advocacy
etc... At the end of each study day the parents leave the school with
more knowledge about their children, available possibilities and feel
strengthened to continue their daily battle with their problems at home.
The study days are modularly planned, parents can choose a single
lecture according to the type of disability of their child. We constantly
endeavor to widen the span of the contents of the lectures and to reach
more parents, especially in the periphery, we intend to turn the school
into an open school for both Israeli and Arab parents, who have the
same characteristics and problems.
