Bar-mitzvah - Integrating the Special Needs Child

This project for Barmitzvah boys and girls who live on kibbutzim
integrates boys and girls from the area who have special needs (From
kibbutzim, moshavim, developing townships, community settlments and
Arab villages). During the Barmitzvah year on a kibbutz the boys and
girls commit themselves to 13 tasks including: security, first aid,
cooking, a day in wild nature, visiting different life styles etc.

The traditional Barmitzvah year on a kibbutz has been ongoing for many
years and enables in an easy way establishing contact between the
special needs children and the normal children of their age and contact
between both groups of parents.

Today the project is ongoing in six different kibbutzim in the Western
Galilee, in schools in the Negev where a club room has been opened for
children with C.P. and of course we have future plans to develop and
widen our activities.

This project has caused wide interest amongst Jewish communities in
North America and with our contacts there we have developed a model
of the project that integrates activities in Israel, activities at the same
time in North America finishing the years activities with an exchange
program of delegates.

This project up till now has been supported by the Jewish Federation
and we intend to expand this project to other areas in Israel and to other
Jewish communities abroad.
We wish to state our gratitude for the constant support that we have and
are receiving from the Jewish Federation for this project.

Project budget: $15.000 per year for each different area.

Budget for exchange program at end of yearly activities in Israel and
North America: $3.000 per family.
